TEAM NOTES:
–Kansas hit seven of its first eight shots to open the game and ended the half at 16-for-25 (64 percent).
-KU’s 50 first-half points marks the most by the Jayhawks in a half since scoring 51 points at home against Oklahoma State (2/11/12).
-The Jayhawks committed a season-low 11 Personal fouls, the lowest since committing 11 against South Florida on (12/3/11).
-None of KU’s three first-half fouls resulted in free throws. Conversely, KU was 13-for-14 from the charity stripe in the first half and 20-for-22 for the game.
-Kansas held its first 30-point lead of the season following a three-point make by Johnson (54-24, 15:05, second half).
-KU racked up its first 40-point lead of the year following a layup from junior F Justin Wesley (72-31, 7:41, second half).
– Kansas’ 44-point advantage with 5:56 left in the second half was the largest lead in a game for the Jayhawks since Kansas led Howard by 55 late in KU’s 89-34 win last season in Allen Fieldhouse (12/29/11).
-KU scored 27 points off of 14 Washington State turnovers, its highest mark of the season.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
–Freshman G Ben McLemore scored six of KU’s first 10 points.
-Senior F Kevin Young made his first career start on Monday.
-Both McLemore and senior G Travis Releford were in double-figures in the first 15 minutes of the game after Releford hit a three at 4:59 mark in the first half. Both finished the first half with a team-best 11 points.
-Releford’s 11 first-half points broke his previous season-high of nine (vs. SE Missouri State, 11/9/12). He finished with a team-high 17 points.
-Freshman G Evan Manning made his first appearance as a Jayhawk when he subbed in for Naadir Tharpe with 6:11 to play.
-Tyler Self also with his first appearance, checking in for Andrew White III with 3:29 to play.
