David McMillan Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Nov. 22, 2004

LAWRENCE, Kan. — University of Kansas senior defensive end David McMillan was named SBC Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after his efforts in KU’s 31-14 victory over border rival Missouri. McMillan collected a career-high three sacks (for -35 yards) and led a defense which held the Tigers to -6 rushing yards in the contest–the fewest rushing yards allowed by the Jayhawks since 1992. The Killeen, Texas, native also forced a fumble and finished the game with five total tackles, including four behind the line of scrimmage.

McMillan and the KU defense were solid all season as he and his defensive mates did not allow a KU opponent to reach the endzone in the first quarter of any game. In fact, the opposition mustered just 15 points in 11 first quarters — two field goals, a safety and a defensive touchdown — all season.
