Kansas Football In Fifth In This Week's BCS Poll

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags” />LAWRENCE, Kan. – After losing its first game of the season, the Kansas football team fell from second in the Bowl Championship Series poll to fifth this week. The Jayhawks are now 11-1 on the season after losing 36-28 to Missouri on Saturday.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

Kansas is tied for fifth in the USA Today poll, ranked sixth in the Harris Interactive, and seventh in this week’s Associated Press poll.

Missouri, which defeated KU, jumped from fourth in the BCS poll to first with an average of .9781. West Virginia is second at .9713, OhioState third at .9192, Georgia fourth at .9274 and Kansas fifth at .7918.

Kansas, which has posted a school-record 11 wins this year, including a 7-1 mark in Big 12 play, will wait until Dec. 2 to find out which bowl it will play in. Kansas will be making its third bowl trip in five years as the Jayhawks played in the 2003 Tangerine Bowl and 2005 Fort Worth Bowl.
