Kansas Swimming Takes Talent to Ohio
Nov. 29, 2006
LAWRENCE, Kan. – A combination of 12 University of Kansas swimmers will take their talent to the Kenyon Invitational this coming weekend in Gambier, Ohio. The invitational swim meet will be hosted by Kenyon College and will be a two-day meet in a championship style format with preliminaries and finals.
After a second-place finish among 15 women’s teams at the Terrapin Cup Invitational in College Park, Md., on November 16-18, the Jayhawks are ready to head east once again.
Kansas head coach Clark Campbell selected the 12 swimmers based upon the likelihood of each qualifying for the USA Swimming National Short Course swim meet in Fall 2007.
“We have selected a small group of swimmers who are closest to national time cuts,” Campbell said. “This meet offers a unique order of events similar to that of a championship meet, but this meet will be over a duration of two days instead of three to three-and-a-half days.”
Teams that will be represented at the Kenyon Invitational include host, Kenyon College, the University of Pennsylvania, John Hopkins University and Kansas.
“Kenyon College has a brand new facility and it has potential to be the fastest pool in the country,” Campbell said.
The meet is set to begin Thursday and continue through Dec. 2. For complete results following each day of competition, please stay tuned to kuathletics.com.
