Marcus Morris Named Big 12 Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas –

Kansas junior Marcus Morris was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week after earning most valuable player honors at the Las Vegas Invitational last weekend the conference office announced Monday.

Morris led the Jayhawks (6-0) to three victories last week, as KU posted wins over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (82-41), Ohio (98-41) and Arizona (87-79). The 6-9 forward from Philadelphia, Pa., averaged 18.0 points and 7.3 rebounds, while shooting 62.5 percent (20-of-32) from the field. He shot at least 50 percent in each outing, while also connecting on 3-of-6 from 3-point range during the week. Morris tied his career-high with 26 points versus Ohio, making 11-of-14 shots from the floor. He leads Kansas in scoring this season with 19.0 points per game (fourth in the Big 12) and has been the team’s top point producer in five of six contests.
