Dec. 1, 2012

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Members of the Jayhawk track & field team pitched in to help Independence Inc. Friday afternoon, a Lawrence organization that provides advocacy, services and education to people with disabilities throughout the community.

The track team lent a hand, tie-dying shirts for Independence Inc.’s benefit concert called the Homegrass Hootenanny, occurring on Dec. 2nd at The Granada Theater in downtown Lawrence. The tie-dyed shirts will be sold at the concert.

Members representing the Jayhawks Friday were sprinter Kyle Clemons, hurdler Isaac Bradshaw, middle distance runners Dominique Manley and Rhavean King and distance specialists Logan Sloan, Hannah Richardson and Julia Dury.

Brenda Brown of Independence Inc. was happy to team up with the Jayhawk track team, along with other KU students.

“It’s great and so encouraging to see so many KU students involved with local nonprofits.” Brown said following the event.

Proceeds will help Independence Inc. continue to serve the Lawrence community. For more information on Independence Inc. and the benefit concert, go to http://www.independenceinc.org.
