Kansas Athletics Online Auction Set to Begin Dec. 14

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The start of another exciting KU online auction is set to begin Thursday, Dec. 14,at 4 p.m. Join fellow Jayhawk fans in bidding on some great pieces of Kansas Athletics history, including Allen Fieldhouse championship banners, original light fixtures and basketball rims. The auction will last 14 days and will officially close Dec. 27. KU fans can access the auction by logging on to KU’s official athletics website, kuathletics.com, or by visiting www.cstv.com.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

This auction kicks off a brand new platform of Kansas Athletics online auctions. Beginning Thursday, Dec. 14, Kansas Athletics will be offering new auction items on a regular basis. Items will be updated at least every two weeks presenting unique opportunities for the biggest Jayhawk fans to own a piece of Kansas Athletics history.

Items for the Dec.14 auction include:

1988 NCAA Championship Banner that Hung in Allen Fieldhouse

The winner of this auction will receive the 1988 NCAA National Championship banner, which was hung in Allen Fieldhouse from 2000 to 2005. This banner measures approximately 80 inches wide by 56 inches tall.

Allen Fieldhouse Basketball Rim

This basketball rim, which was used by both the Men’s and Women’s KU basketball teams, hung in Allen Fieldhouse throughout the 90’s. The rim up for auction includes a basketball net that was also hung in Allen Fieldhouse.

Original Allen Fieldhouse Light Fixtures

This auction is for both a Red and Blue light fixture which had hung in Allen Fieldhouse since its first day in 1955. These original light fixtures hung until 2004, when Allen Fieldhouse went through its latest renovations. These lights are still fully functional and are two of a very small number of items that can still be found from the first days of legendary Allen Fieldhouse.

These are just a few of the items that will be offered during the Dec. 14 online auction. All proceeds from these auctions will help support programs for <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>University of Kansas student-athletes.
