KU's Stuckey To Play In East-West Shrine Game

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas safety Darrell Stuckey will compete in the annual East-West Shrine Football Game Jan. 23. The game will take place at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. and will be televised on ESPN2 at 2 p.m. Central.

Stuckey will play for the West team, which will be coached by Marty Schottenheimer, who coached in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins and San Diego Chargers.

Stuckey recorded a team-leading 93 tackles from his strong safety position this past season. The Kansas City, Kan. native was recognized by the Big 12 Conference three times, earning All-Big 12 honors in 2008 and honorable mention accolades in 2007 and 2009.

Two years ago former Jayhawks Marcus Henry, Brandon McAnderson and James McClinton were invited to the East-West Shrine game. Last year James Holt played in the Texas vs. The Nation game.

Players will report to Orlando on Jan. 16 and will take part in practice sessions, a Hospital visit, and time with NFL personnel.
