Women's Basketball Team Visits Lawrence Memorial Hospital

Dec. 18, 2006

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The University of Kansas women’s basketball team visited the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Monday afternoon to spread holiday cheer to patients. The visit marked the 14th consecutive year the Jayhawks have distributed items collected during the “Crimson & Blue Holiday Project” to LMH.

During the visit, team members presented patients with a variety of KU-licensed product, including tee shirts, playing cards, pennants and team posters. KU’s Trademark Licensing Office collects the items from officially licensed vendors, who donate the product for this event each year. This year the licensees donated over 1,200 items with a retail value of over $13,000.

The trademark licensing program collects fees and royalties from manufacturers authorized to commercially use KU’s trademarks. Royalties distributed from the program are used to fund student and student-athlete scholarships at KU.
