Bechard announces 2019 Kansas Volleyball Camp Dates

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas volleyball staff and head coach Ray Bechard are excited to announce the 2019 KU Volleyball Camp dates.

The Jayhawks are scheduled to host overnight skills camp, position clinics and team camps.

For individuals grades sixth through 12 looking to sharpen their game, KU will host position clinics for hitters (June 2) and another focused on defensive specialists, liberos and setters (June 3) inside Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks will also host two sessions of overnight skills camps, the first June 4-6 and the second July 6-8.

The emphasis of the individual overnight skills camp is to teach and develop the fundamental techniques of volleyball, as well as game strategies. Basic skills are stressed in drills, while team play is incorporated to teach how all the fundamentals fit in the game.

Campers will be evaluated in all skills and receive a camp notebook detailing the camp’s training methods. This camp is open to any and all athletes entering grades 6-12 in the of Fall 2019 Campers will compete in the equivalent of 10 league and tournament matches. Each league team will be assigned a camp staff member to help facilitate all the skills learned throughout the camp.

Campers stay overnight in Naismith Hall, a dorm located just 100 yards from Allen Fieldhouse and athletes are allowed to pick their own roommates.

KU’s pair of team camp sessions will be held July 9-11 and July 12-14. Team camps are open to any and all athletes in grades ninth through 12th. For more information or to register for team camp, contact Maggie Bowen (maggiebowen@ku.edu).
