Jayhawk trio finish in top-20 at Prairie Invitational

Parkville, Mo. – Three Kansas women’s golfers excelled at the 2019 Prairie Invitational with the trio securing a top-20 finish at The National Golf Club of Kansas City in Parkville, Missouri July 22-24.

""It is nice to have three of our players make the cut for the Prairie Invitational this week. Today was a great opportunity for Sera (Tadokoro) and Aristelle (Acuff) to be in the leader group for the final round.""

Kansas women's golf head coach Erin O'Neil

Rising junior Sera Tadokoro led the KU contingent in the field, placing second with a 9-over 225 (74, 74, 77) through the three-day tournament. Tadokoro nearly claimed victory over the entire field and finished only two strokes behind tournament medalist Sarah Bell.

Aristelle Acuff, a rising redshirt-sophomore on the KU women’s golf team, finished tied for fourth with a 12-over 228 (76, 73, 79) and earned the best KU round of the tournament on the second day of competition.

""It's a different kind of pressure for them and they both learned valuable lessons that they can use the next time they are in a similar situation. Both Sera and Ari have made steady improvements - especially in the last few months. Hopefully they can put it all together at the Kansas Amateur in a couple of weeks and once the Kansas women's golf fall season begins in early September.""
