Kansas Falls to TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – Kansas battled with Big 12 opponent TCU, but dropped the four-set match against the Horned Frogs Saturday at TCU University Recreation Center.

The first set was a back-and-forth battle and Kansas held the 22-18 advantage late in the set. TCU responded and was able to tie the set at 23-23 before ultimately earning the first set.

With momentum on their side, the Horned Frogs were eager to take a two-set advantage, but the Jayhawks had other plans.

TCU reached out to a 14-9 edge, its largest of the set, and Kansas called a timeout to slow the momentum.

Following the timeout, the Jayhawks started chipping away at the TCU lead, and tied the score at 17-all after a block by Ashley Smith and Zoe Hill.

KU completed the comeback, and won the set on an attack by Smith.

TCU responded back and captured the third set, 25-17. The Jayhawks were able to narrow the TCU lead down to four in the middle of the set at 17-13, but were unable to find rhythm after a timeout by the Horned Frogs.

The fourth set was another back-and-forth battle between the two Big 12 foes. Kansas jumped out to an early five-point advantage, but TCU battled back to tie the set score at 13-all.

The Horned Frogs continued their attack down the stretch and survived mini runs by the Jayhawks, capturing the set and the match.
