Kansas women’s golf signs Sera Tadokoro

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Sera Tadokoro, native of Osaka, Japan, but attends the Heritage Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina, will sign a grant-in-aid to play for the Jayhawks in the fall of 2017, coach Erin O’Neil has announced.

“(Tadokoro) is a very talented player,” O’Neil said. “She can hit the ball a mile, has a solid iron game and will be a steady player for us.”

Tadokoro has been a part of the International Junior Golf Academy for the past four years, where she has played in tournaments year-round.

Her resume includes wins at IJGT Junior at Oyster Reef, Winter Shootout at TPC Tampa Bay, IJGT Island Open at Palmetto Hall – Arthur Hills Course, IJGA Invitational Sea Pines Resort – Ocean, Savannah Junior at The Landings – Marshwood/Magnolia, Thanksgiving Day Classic at TPC Sawgrass- Stadium Course.

Tadokoro tied for fifth in the Greg Norman Champions Golf Academy Junior Championship this summer. She is no stranger to golf in Kansas as she had a top 10 finish at the AJGA Kansas Junior at Buffalo Dunes in June.

In an interview with IJGA, Tadokoro expressed her excitement about becoming a Jayhawk and getting on campus.

“I love my new coaches and I love the big campus,” Tadokoro said. “I think I will fit in and it will be a comfortable place.”
