Notes QUICK HITS

  • Walker’s performance in the 1,650 free was one of several ‘A’ final finishes that led to her scoring the second-most individual points in the Kansas Classic, trailing only Nebraska’s Tori Beeler for Swimmer of the Meet honors.
  • Yulduz Kuchkarova’s 100 and 200-yard backstroke swims not only netted her first and second-place finishes, respectively, but also her first career Big 12 Swimmer of the Week honor from CollegeSwimming.com. Her swims also qualified for NCAA ‘B’ cuts.
  • Jenny Nusbaum swam the 200-yard freestyle three times in one day; in the preliminary and final swims of the 200 free and a leg in the 800 free relay. Nusbaum was victorious in all three swims; posting the top preliminary time, capturing the 200 free title and contributing to the top 800 free relay time. The freshman has yet to lose a 200 free race in her budding collegiate career.
  • The Kansas Classic saw a lot of Jayhawks reach personal milestones, with 15 swimmers recording lifetime-best races.
Kansas scored 958 points to place second at the Kansas Classic behind Nebraska’s 975.
