Schools Announced for 2016 Kansas Relays Quadrangular
LAWRENCE, Kan. – For the second-straight year, the Kansas Relays Presented by Subway will feature a collegiate quadrangular as the four teams are set who will take part in the scored competition at the 89th installment of the historic track meet. Kansas will go head-to-head with former Big 12 rival Nebraska as well as Colorado State and Rice during the two-day competition that will span 40 men’s and women’s track & field events. The 89th Annual Kansas Relays will take place April 20-23 and will be held for the third year at Rock Chalk Park.
At the 2015 Kansas Relays, the Kansas Jayhawk men’s and women’s teams swept the quadrangular competitions with the KU men coming out on top with 226 points, while the women amassed 194 points for the win.
The format of the quadrangular will be similar to other scored collegiate meets such as the Big 12 Championships and the NCAA Championships. Individuals will earn points based on their finish in their respective events. Only the top-two finishers from each team will be scored in each individual event, and be allowed only one team in the relays. The scoring breakdown will be based on the following table:
|Individual Events||Relay Events|
|1st Place||9 points||1st Place||9 points|
|2nd Place||7 points||2nd Place||7 points|
|3rd Place||6 points||3rd Place||6 points|
|4th Place||5 points||4th Place||5 points|
|5th Place||4 points|
|6th Place||3 points|
|7th Place||2 points|

The majority of the quadrangular will be run on Saturday, April 23 in conjunction with an “Open College” meet as well as the high school division events. The open college division will feature athletes from several other schools as well as those athletes from Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado State and Rice not competing in the quadrangular.
