High Fives – The fading light inside Hoglund Ballpark highlighted MJ Farthing as the senior worked his way through the line of postgame, high-fiving teammates after KU defeated Texas Southern 8-4 in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday, May 6. In the first game, an 11-2 victory, Farthing had three hits in four at-bats as the designated hitter.

The Warmth of the Sun – After a cold and wet spring, sunny and warm temperatures arrived at Hoglund Ballpark during KU’s four-game weekend series against Texas Southern. Senior reliever Jeider Rincon enjoyed the warmth while sitting in the bullpen inside Hoglund Ballpark during the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday, May 6. A day later, Rincon closed out the final victory of the sweep of the Eagles with a scoreless inning of relief in the 10-0 win.

Dancing with the Stars – During an hour and 45-minute rain delay before the start of a doubleheader against Baylor on Sunday, April 30, Baby Jay danced with junior Owen Taylor in the dugout inside Hoglund Ballpark. The KU mascot was dressed in pink to honor breast cancer survivors during baseball’s Jayhawks for a Cure day.

Push Off – KU rowers – junior Aminah Reid-Brydon, freshman Kalyn Blessing, redshirt junior Mackenzie Klaver, freshman Kate Englander and sophomore coxswain Katie McWhirter – pushed off from the dock for the Second Varsity Four race on the Kansas River at Lawrence’s Burcham Park during the 20th annual Sunflower Showdown against Kansas State on Friday, April 28. For the third-straight year, KU claimed the title over its in-state rival.

Soaring – KU junior pole vaulter Laura Taylor soared into the lights of Rock Chalk Park on her way to winning the competition with a clearance of 4.08m (13-4½) during the Rock Chalk Classic on Friday, April 28.

In Flight – In full flight, KU redshirt freshman Gabbi Dabney stretched out as she flew through the Rock Chalk Classic 100-meter hurdles on Friday, April 28, at Rock Chalk Park.

 Early Tee Time – Sophomore Charlie Hillier teed off on the second hole as the sun rose over Prairie Dunes Country Club during the second round of the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship in Hutchinson, Kansas, on Tuesday, April 25.

Sand Man – Sand flew as KU junior Daniel Hudson escaped a pot bunker on the par-3 15th hole at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas, during the second round of the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship on Tuesday, April 25.

Directions – Strong winds and cold temperatures made gauging the distance to the elevated green on the par-3 second hole difficult for freshman Andy Spencer and coach Jamie Bermel during the final round of the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas, on Wednesday, April 26.

Fists – Chase Hanna squeezed the fist of KU men’s golf coach Jamie Bermel in celebration after sinking a 10-foot par putt on the 18th hole that led to the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship’s individual title for the senior at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas, on Wednesday, April 26.

Take Your Pick – After KU softball batted around in the fifth inning of the 13-5 victory over Nevada at Free State High School on Sunday, April 23, first base coach Jessica Hancock had collected so much protective batting equipment that junior Mikayla Warren had to search for hers before she could bat again.
