RCW: Student-Athletes Volunteer at Hawks, Cops and Kids

Sixty current Jayhawk student-athletes spent the last Saturday of the 2016-17 school year volunteering at the annual Hawks, Cops and Kids event. Each spring, KU Leads partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Douglas County and area law enforcement agencies at Robinson Gymnasium to put on this event.

This year, over 80 children in first through fifth grades participated in Hawks, Cops and Kids, which focuses on promoting an active lifestyle, safety and education.

Groups of area children teamed up with the KU student-athletes and rotated through different stations consisting of: education from law enforcement officers, physical activities with student-athletes and healthy eating tips. The participants were also treated to a guest speaker, Kansas women’s basketball associate head coach Aqua Franklin.
