TITLE Assistant Director - Academic and Career Counseling (FB)

Bio

Taja Dotson joined Kansas Athletics’ Student-Athlete Support Services team in 2023 as an Assistant Director of Academic & Career Counseling working with Football (Defense). Prior to joining Dotson worked at The University of Arizona with C.A.T.S. Academics as an Academic Counselor where she primarily worked with the Women’s Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Gymnastics, and Track and Field programs. In addition to her role, Dotson is a member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A), where she is involved with the Emerging Professionals and the Mentorship sub-committees as well as being a member of Women Leaders in College Sports.

Prior to joining the C.A.T.S. Academic team, Dotson was a Student-Athlete Services intern at Kansas State University, primarily working with the Football and Men’s Golf programs. During her time with the Wildcats, she also earned a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida that focused on ways organizations can create a more diverse workplace as well as address equity issues and foster inclusivity.

Originally from Tampa, Florida, Dotson holds a B.A Degree in Foreign Language and Literature Studies and a M.S Degree in Human Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Sports Management, both from the University of Alabama. Dotson got her start in intercollegiate athletics as an Academic Support Assistant with her alma mater as well as being a student-athlete on the University of Alabama Rowing team.
