Tori Miller named Director of Volleyball Operations

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Former Kansas volleyball defensive specialist Tori Miller has been named director of volleyball operations for the 2018 season, head coach Ray Bechard announced on Thursday.

Miller will succeed Maggie (Anderson) Bowen as the program’s director of volleyball operations following Bowen’s promotion to assistant coach.

A native of Derby, Kansas, Miller will assist with the day-to-day operations of the program, including but not limited to travel arrangements, managing schedules, organizing summer camps and K Club relations.

Miller begins her fifth-straight season with Kansas volleyball this fall after completing her playing career as a defensive specialist for the Jayhawks. She played in 104 matches and was part of four NCAA Tournament appearances, a 2015 Final Four appearance and an outright Big 12 title in 2016.

“It’s a really neat opportunity when a former player can stay involved with the program and give back in some ways,” Bechard said. “Tori will be in a position where she is trying to make everybody’s job a little bit easier — from coaches, players and support staff. I know she will embrace it and do a great job since she knows our culture, how our volleyball program operates, and how we can work toward being the best that we can be.”

After a home exhibition contest on Aug. 18, the Jayhawks begin the 2018 regular season with a two-match series against Arkansas starting on Friday, Aug. 24, in Fayetteville, followed by KU’s home opener against the Razorbacks on Sunday, Aug. 26 in Lawrence.
