“I’m sure we will get Missouri’s very best shot,” Kansas head coach Ray Bechard said. “They finished behind two top-four-seeded teams in No. 2 Florida and No. 4 Kentucky in the SEC standings. Playing in Wichita, it’s a good opportunity for us to stay somewhat local. I’m sure a lot of KU fans can travel and watch what I think will be a great match between Kansas and Missouri.”

Friday’s first-round match between the former conference rivals will mark the second time Kansas and Missouri have met in the NCAA Tournament in the last three years. The Jayhawks defeated Missouri in the second round of the 2015 tourney on the way to the program’s first-ever appearance in the Final Four.

Tickets are available for purchase at goshockers.com starting Sunday evening or by visiting or calling the WSU Ticket Office (316-978-FANS).

The Big 12 Conference includes four teams in NCAA Tournament’s field of 64 – Kansas, No. 6 Texas, No. 12 Baylor and No. 14 Iowa State.

The regional rounds, including the round of 16 and round of eight, will be played on the campus of the highest remaining seed in each respective region, Dec. 8 and 9. The four seeded teams in KU’s region include No. 1 Penn State, No. 8 Washington, No. 9 Creighton and No. 16 Wichita State.

Kansas Athletics, the Kansas City Sports Commission and UMKC are set to host the Final Four at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Dec. 14 and 16.
