COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 39th-ranked Kansas women’s golf team, ended the first day of the Lady Buckeye Invitational in a tie for fourth place behind sophomore Yupaporn “Mook” Kawinpakorn’s two-round total of 150 (+6), Saturday at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
 
Kansas opened up the day with a 305 (+17) led by senior Thanuttra “Fhong” Boonraksasat’s first round 74 (+2). The Jayhawks ended their day with a 307 (+19), led by Mook’s 74 (+2). Kansas is tied with Purdue at 612 (+36), four strokes behind third-place Michigan State at 608 (+32) in the 12-team field.
 
Mook began her day with a 76 (+4), placing her in a tie for fourth at the end of two rounds. Fhong currently joins Mook in the top-10 with a second round 78 (+6), giving her a two round total of 152 (+8), placing her in a tie for eighth in the 72-golfer field.
 
Jayhawk senior Meghan Potee contributed to the Jayhawks effort as she is sitting in a tie for 22nd after carding a first round 78 (+6) and a second round 77 (+5), bringing her total to 155 (+11).
 
Junior Minami Levonowich started her day recording a 79 (+7) in the first round. In the afternoon round Levonowich improved one shot with a 78 (+6) placing her in a tie for 31st.
 
Rounding out the Jayhawk five is freshman Pornvipa “Faii” Sakdee, who shot an afternoon round of 86 (+14), following a first round 77 (+5). Faii currently sits in a tie for 54th at 163 (+19).
 
Michelle Woods travelled with the team as an individual and currently sits in a tie for 70th behind a first round 86 (+14), and a second round 83 (+11), bringing her total to 169 (+25).
 
Kent State currently leads the event with a two round score of 597 (+21), after a morning round of 297 (+9) and a second round of 300 (+12). Ohio State sits in second place, trailing by four strokes with a two round score of 601 (+25).
 
The Lady Buckeye Invitational will conclude with one round, 18 holes, on Sunday.
