IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Kansas women’s golf team is in second place after the first two rounds of the Diane Thomason Invitational and is looking for its second team title of the season heading into Sunday’s final round in Iowa, City, Iowa.

The Jayhawks trail Illinois, the tournament leader, by one stroke heading into Sunday’s final 18 holes at Finkbrine Golf Course in Iowa City. Illinois is +24 as a team with a 600, while KU is at 601.

KU sophomore Yupaporn Kawinpakorn led the way for the Jayhawks through the first two rounds, finishing her day on a high note by shooting a 2-under 70 in the second round. Kawinpakorn is tied for fourth place heading into Sunday’s final round with a four-over 148. Illinois’ Stephanie Miller leads the 73-golfer field at even-par 144 (74-70).

While Kawinpakorn and Boonrksasat each had strong showings Saturday, it was a total team effort for the Jayhawks. Junior Minami Levonowich and senior Meghan Potee are each in the top-20. Levonowich carded a 76 (+4) in both rounds Saturday and is in a tie for 12th at 152. Potee, who won previously this season at the Marilynn Smith Invitational, is in a tie for 19th at 153.

The Jayhawks have finished in the top four of all three events this fall season, including a team victory at the Marilynn Smith Invitational. They will look to add another team title to that total Sunday.
