Kansas Women’s Golf in First in South Carolina

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Consistent play throughout the lineup has the Kansas women’s golf team in the lead at the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. With one round in the books, play was suspended due to darkness. The 19-team field will conclude second-round before starting Monday’s final 18 holes.

KU, which has four players 17th or better when play resumes, entered the second round three strokes behind first-round leader Eastern Tennessee State (294-297), yet the Jayhawks kept their consistency and hold a three-stroke lead over the College of Charleston when play resumes. Kansas has three holes remaining before concluding its second round.

Kansas junior Minami Levonowich sits 2-under for her second round and is in third place (E) in the 99-golfer field. Levonowich entered the second round tied for 11th after her 2-over 74 and is 2-under through 15 holes in her second round. KU freshman Pornvipa Sadkee is tied for ninth (+2) and is even par through 15 holes of her second round. She, like Levonowich, shot at 74 in her first round.

KU senior Meghan Potee is tied for 14th (+5) after carding a 4-over 76 in her opening round. Sophomore Yupaporn Kawinpakorn is one stroke back (+6) and tied for 17th. Kawainpakorn carded at 3-over 75 in her first round. KU senior Thanuttra Boonrakasat enters Monday tied for 28th (+8). She shot a 74 in her first round.
