BATON ROUGE, La. – Yi-Tsen Chou’s 1-under 71 led the Kansas women’s golf team into a eighth-place standing after Monday’s opening round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The team shot a collective score of 18-over 306, sitting in a tie for eighth place with Chattanooga.

Chou remained consistent throughout day one, as she came out strong by shooting for par on her first six holes of the day. A 3-under par effort on the back nine included three birdies which put her in a tie for third place going into the second round. This is Chou’s eighth round shooting under par of the season.

Senior Chomchana Phuchanbanchob birdied two of the first six holes and shot 1-over on the front nine but couldn’t overcome two late double bogeys, resulting in a 5-over 72 for a T-30 finish.

A handful of bogeys and a triple bogey on her first hole were too much to deal with for freshman Pear Pooratanaopa. She shot a 5-over 77 on day one.

Sophomore Sera Tadokoro shot a first-round 79, including two birdies. She currently sits in a tie for 40th with Pooratanaopa.

Aristelle Acuff couldn’t get past three double bogeys and ultimately finished 9-over 81 for a tie in 45th place on day one.

Seeing her first action since competing as an individual at the Minnesota Invitational, senior Xinyun Yu was calm and collected throughout 18 holes of play. She carded a team-best four birdies en route to a T15 finish. Yu fired a 3-over 75 in the opening round.

The team tees off for the second round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on Saturday. Tees times are TBD and will be updated here once made available. Follow live here.
