Fonseca Diaz earns second WGCA All-American Scholar honor

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – For the second-straight season, Kansas junior Ariadna Fonseca Diaz was named an All-American Scholar by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Wednesday. A total of 952 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized with the honor and criteria for selection is to carry a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50.
 
With the honor, Fonseca Diaz became the 30th WGCA All-American Scholar in Jayhawk program history, including 25 during KU head coach Erin O’Neil’s tenure.
 
In April, Fonseca Diaz was named to the 2017 Academic All-Big 12 First Team, after being named to the 2016 Big 12 Academic All-Rookie team at the completion of her freshman season. As a four-time member of the Athletic Director’s and Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Rolls, Fonseca Diaz led the Jayhawks with a 75.48 scoring average during the 2016-17 season. With three top-20 finishes, Fonseca Diaz placed in the top-5 twice, including a third-place performance at the Dale McNamara Invitational in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
