GAINESVILLE, Fla. –Kansas senior women’s golfer Yupaporn “Mook” Kawinpakorn extended her streak of excellence by tying for third with Morgane Metraux of Florida State in the 75-golfer field at the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational Sunday in Gainesville. It was Kawinpakorn’s fourth-straight top-five finish and ninth-straight top-10 finish going back to the 2014-15 season.

Kawinpakorn was one of five golfers to shoot under par in Sunday’s final round carding a 71 (-1). Her three-round score of 214 (+4) was four strokes behind individual medalist Rachael Taylor of North Carolina State at 210 (E).

“Mook finished strong with a birdie on her last hole for another solid tournament but I know she isn’t satisfied with it,” 12th-year KU head coach Erin O’Neil said. “She’s hungry to get more wins this spring.”

KU entered Sunday in 11th place and was unable to move that spot in the final team standings. KU shot a 301 in its final round and finished with a three-round score of 903 (+63), six strokes behind 10th-place Florida International and 41 strokes behind first-place Florida. The 11th-place finish broke a three-tournament streak where the Jayhawks placed in the top-half of the field.

KU junior Pornvipa Sakdee carded a 224 (+14) to tie for 28th in her first action since the 2015 Big 12 Tournament last April. She moved up one spot after shooting a 75 (+5) on the day. Her 74.7 stroke average for the tournament was in line with the 74.9 stroke average she recorded in the 2014-15 season.

Kansas freshman Ariadna Fonseca Diaz scored a 229 (+19) to tie for 46th, while sophomore Pitsinee Winyarat shot a 242 (+32) to place 73rd. Freshman Laine Evans recorded a 244 (+34) to place 74th

The Jayhawks will return to the golf course March 14-15 when they compete at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Arizona.
