Lawrence, Kan. – The University of Kansas women’s basketball team held Colorado to 33 percent shooting and coasted to a 76-54 victory over the Buffaloes, Sunday at Allen Fieldhouse. With the win, Kansas improved to 11-11 on the season and 4-7 in Big 12 play.

The 22-point margin of victory marked the Jayhawks’ most lopsided win in a conference tilt since the team defeated Oklahoma, 92-69, on March 1, 1997.

Junior guard Erica Hallman led all scorers with 18 points and dished out a game-high eight assists. Junior forward Crystal Kemp netted 17 points and grabbed seven boards, while junior guard Kaylee Brown scored 17 in the win.

The Jayhawks shot 48 percent (29-of-60) from the field and 53 percent (8-of-15) from three-point range in the contest.

“We were unselfish the entire game,” Kansas head coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “This game was important for us to build confidence and to get prepared for a difficult stretch of games coming up.”

Our defense prevented Colorado from having many scoring opportunities and then led us to some big scoring opportunities on offense,” Henrickson added.

The win gave Kansas a series sweep over Colorado for the first time since 1999-00. Coupled with the team’s season sweep of Missouri, the Jayhawks have swept two Big 12 opponents for the first since 2000. In addition, the four conference victories are the most by any Jayhawk team since 2001.

Colorado was led by freshman Jackie McFarland who scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. Freshman Yari Escalera added 11, while sophomore Jasmina Ilic scored 10 in the loss.

KU will remain at home to face Texas Tech on Sunday, Feb. 16. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
