Postgame Quotes

Kansas 8, Iowa, 4

March 6, 2010 – Lawrence Kan.

Kansas Head Coach Ritch Price

On the game today:

“I was pleased with (Cameron) Selik. I thought he pitched pretty well for us. That was three quality strikes in a row to open the season. If he can continue to pitch like that for seven innings every time we give him the ball then we have a chance to win series. That’s what it’s all about.”

On the bottom of the lineup:

“To be good, you have to be productive one through nine. You can’t try to survive with the top five hitters in your lineup. We can continue to get better as we continue to get more reps at game speed.”

On Brett Lisher:

“I’m thrilled for him. He’s one of the greatest kids in America. He’s worked his tail off and he’s prepared everyday to get to the level he’s at now.”

Kansas First Basemen Brett Lisher

On his game today:

“I saw a lot of fastballs today, and the emphasis lately has been just attacking the fastball early so I took that as my approach today.”

On those batting after him:

“As soon as they start hitting, we’re going to have a full lineup. As you saw today, (Alex) DeLeon gets his first hit and he’s been swinging the bat well, just hitting it right at people. It’s starting to come around, I think as soon as we can start hitting all the way through one-through-nine then we can be pretty explosive.”

On how it felt having a game like today being a local kid:

“It’s nice getting to do this in my hometown, but it’s nice anywhere you get to do it. It’s the game of baseball, anywhere you play and anywhere you do it it’s always going to be the same.”
