Kansas‘ win over Emporia State…

… Makes Kansas 36-9 in exhibition games. Kansas has won 27 of its last 29 preseason contests.

Notes

–Today’s game marks the 15th time the Jayhawks have played an in-state Division II foe in the preseason, including last season’s wins over Fort Hays State and Washburn and last week’s win over Pittsburg State.

–KU is 3-0 in preseason exhibition games against the Lady Hornets. KU defeated Emporia State 83-53, on Nov. 13, 2005 in Bonnie Henrickson’s second season as head coach. The Jayhawks also defeated ESU, 74-64 in overtime, on Nov. 8, 2007 in Henrickson’s fourth season as head coach at Kansas.

— Kansas used the starting lineup of Angel Goodrich, Danielle McCray, Krysten Boogaard, Sade Morris and Aishah Sutherland. The same five Jayhawks started last week against Pittsburg State.

–McCray tallied 12 first-half points and Boogaard added 11 to pace the Jayhawks in the first half. Boogaard had the team’s first four points.

–Twelve Jayhawks saw action in the first half, including six newcomers. Of the newcomers, Monica Engelman tallied the most points with nine.

–The Jayhawks led 47-21 at halftime after three lead changes and three tie scores.

–Boogaard led the Jayhawks with 17 points and 10 rebounds. It would have been the seventh double-double of her career if it were a regular season game. Sutherland also finished with what would have been the second double-double of her career with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

–KU outscored ESU in the paint 44 to 16.

–The Jayhawks forced 24 turnovers and converted them into 30 points.
