Kansas men No. 20 in USTFCCCA rankings heading into West Prelims

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas men’s track & field team came in at No. 20 in the week eight U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Track & Field Rating Index, released on Monday.

The No. 20 ranking for the KU men is a two-spot rise from their week seven ranking at No. 22. The week eight rankings were based only off marks from athletes who qualified for the NCAA Championships, with the Jayhawk men receiving 109.63 points in the ratings index.

Bryce Hoppel (28.14), Zach Bradford (28.66) and Gleb Dudarev (26.75) each scored over 25 points apiece with top-5 NCAA marks in their respective events, while George Evans (15.06), Kyle Rogers (4.38), Cordell Tinch (3.48), Cody Johnson (1.27) and the men’s 4×400-meter relay team of Marcus Davis, Ethan Fogle, Johnson and Hoppel (1.89) each added to the point total as well.

The Jayhawk women jumped four spots to No. 44 in the week eight ratings, scoring 42.59 points in the index.

Kansas has 24 entries in the NCAA West Preliminary Round, which is set for May 23-25 at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California. The top-12 athletes in each event will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas, June 5-8.
