KU soccer adds Slovenian goalkeeper

LAWRENCE, Kan. – A standout goalkeeper from the Slovenian national team as well as her country’s premier league, Melania Pasar, will join the Kansas soccer team for the 2019 season, it was announced Wednesday.

“I’m very excited to add Melania to our program,” said associate head coach and goalkeeper trainer Kelly Miller. “It’s rare to find a goalkeeper with her size that also has such great athletic ability. I’m really looking forward to working with her. Our keepers made great strides this spring and Melania will certainly be a great addition to the group.”

Pasar has seen stints with the Slovenian national team at both the senior and youth levels. The 5-foot-11 keeper currently plays with ŽNK Radomlje, which plays in Slovenia’s top league.

Pasar is the seventh newcomer to be added to the 2019 KU soccer roster, which is looking to fill the void left by six departing letterwinners and three starters from last year’s NCAA Tournament team.
