KU soccer claims NSCAA Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the 13th-consecutive year, the Kansas soccer team earned a Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) it was announced Thursday afternoon.
 
Head coach Mark Francis squad posted a team GPA of 3.38 during the 2015-16 academic year, marking the 13th-straight season the Jayhawks have earned a 3.0 grade point average or better, and the highest team GPA among the 17 other sports Kansas Athletics sponsors.
 
The Jayhawks were one of 578 women’s soccer teams (NCAA all divisions) honored by the NSCAA and joined seven other Big 12 squads which were recognized. KU boasted eight Academic All-Big 12 selections last season, all of which were named to the first team. Kansas saw 18 of its 24 student-athletes who were members of the 2015 roster boast a cumulative GPA above 3.0 throughout the academic year.
 
Kansas finished the 2015 season at 10-9-2 and advanced to the program’s first Big 12 Tournament Championship game.
