LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas men’s golf team will travel to Phoenix, Ariz., as the Jayhawks will partake in the Desert Shootout Thursday, March 20, Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22 at Palm Valley Country Club.

The Jayhawks will be sending the familiar faces of Chase Hanna, Logan Philley, Ben Welle and Connor Peck while senior Ryley Haas will be joining them to round out the squad. Hanna, Philley and Welle will be making their eighth tournament appearance of their season, while Peck will be making his fifth and Haas will be making his second of the year, first of the spring.

Haas looks to improve off his first appearance where he debuted at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate where he finished in a tie for 58th after shooting a 233, 20-over par.

Hanna is coming off one of his better performances of the season where he carded a 220 (+4) at the Louisiana Classics while finished in a tie for 25th. Welle has also been a consistent force for the Jayhawks as he is averaging just 5.7-over par per tournament this year. Welle recorded a 222 (+6) at the Louisiana Classics which placed him in a tie for 35th.

Peck is looking for his first top-20 performance of the season as he looks to help Kansas. Peck finished at the Louisiana Classics in a tie for 53rd after shooting 11-over par, 227. Philley is also looking to help the Jayhawks compete as he looks to get back to his under par ways as he did at the Give ‘Em Five Invitational in El Paso where he recorded a 214 (-2) and finished in a tie for 16th.

David Auer will be partaking in the Desert Shootout as an individual player.

The tournament will be taking place at the Palm Valley Country Club, where the players will be pitted against a 7,015-yard par-72 course. Kansas State will be the host school with Kansas, Bowling Green, BYU, Cal State Fullerton, Columbia, Creighton, Denver, Drake, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Kansas City, Long Beach State, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, and Southern Utah rounding out the 16-team field.

The Louisiana Classics Invitational will take place over three days where the competitors will play one round, 18 holes, a day.
