Woodland Tied for Fifth at Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Former Kansas golfer Gary Woodland used a trio of first-round birdies to place among the top-5 after the opening round of play at the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Course. Woodland, ranked 24th in the Fedex Cup standing prior to the start of this week’s tournament, birdied holes No. 2, 13 and 15 to off-set one, opening-round bogey and entered the clubhouse tied for fifth with a first day total of 70. The Topeka, Kan., native has three top-10 finishes and has made the cut in nine of 10 events played during the 2014 season. His best finish at the Masters is a tie for 24th in 2011. Woodland is paired with Angel Cabrera and Ian Poulter, and will tee off Friday morning at 11:31 CT.
