No. 16 Kansas opens spring season at Orlando Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas tennis has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as the No. 16-ranked team in the country heading into the spring 2019 season, as was released Wednesday by the ITA.

Before the start to the spring dual-match season next weekend, the Jayhawks are in Orlando, Florida, to compete at the Orlando Invitational hosted by, and at, the USTA National Campus.

“We are excited to start our season,” said head coach Todd Chapman. “The team has come back from the (winter) break in good form, so we are looking forward to seeing exactly where we are with each of the matches. Texas Tech, NC State and Rice are all strong programs. We will be tested right away, which is a great situation to be in this early in the season.”

Play begins Friday, January 11, and runs through Sunday, January 13. Kansas opens the tournament in doubles play versus Rice Friday morning at 10 a.m. ET (9 a.m. CT). Following doubles play, the Jayhawks will face NC State in singles.
