ITA All-American qualifying brackets start Tuesday
LAWRENCE, Kan. – The qualifying brackets from the 2016 Riviera ITA Women’s All-American Championship have been released and Kansas sophomores Nina Khmelnitckaia, Janet Koch and Anastasia Rychagova now know who stands between them and a berth to the main draw. The qualifying round starts Tuesday at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California.
Ranked No. 56 in the ITA preseason rankings, KU’s Khmelnitckaia and Koch will open bracket play against Georgia’s Mariana Gould and Eleni Christofi at 11 a.m., CT. Although not ranked as a paired doubles team, both the Georgia players were part of the ITA preseason rankings. Paired with different partners, Christofi and Gould were ranked No. 26 and No. 30, respectively.
On the singles side, No. 49-ranked Rychagova will open against No. 69 Paige Cline from South Carolina. That match is slated to begin at 12:45 p.m., CT. With a win, Rychagova would face the winner of No. 32 Yolimar Ogando [Miami (Fla.)] and No. 79 Gabriella De Santis (Ohio State).
