Plipuech named Big 12 Player of the Week

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After logging a perfect 4-0 record in the Orlando Invitational this past weekend, Kansas sophomore Plobrung Plipuech has been named the first Big 12 Player of the Week of the 2019 calendar year. Plipuech’s perfect record consisted of two victories in singles and doubles competition.
 
On the opening day of the tournament, Plipuech paired with Kansas senior Nina Khmelnitckaia to beat Rice’s Victoria Smirnova and Fernanda Astete, 7-6(3). In her singles match Friday, Plipuech defeated NC State’s Liz Norman, 6-3, 6-2.
 
Plipuech continued her perfect record on Saturday against NC State and conference foe Texas Tech. Plipuech and junior Maria Toran Ribes topped NC State’s Liz Norman and Bianca Moldovan, 6-2. In her final match of the tournament, Plipuech defeated Texas Tech’s Nell Miller, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1, to round out her perfect 4-0 record for the tournament.
