Al Hizam finishes tied for fifth at 2018 Asian Games

JAKARTA, Indonesia – Kansas track & field senior Hussain Al Hizam tied for fifth at the 2018 Asian Games at GBK Main Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, while competing for his home country of Saudi Arabia.
 
The Saudi Arabia national record holder in the pole vault in both indoors and outdoors, Al Hizam cleared 5.40 meters (17-8.75 ft.) on his third attempt at the height to tie Korea’s Minsub Jin for the fifth-place spot.

Al Hizam will return to Kansas for his senior seasons in both indoor and outdoor track & field, where he will look to defend his 2018 NCAA Indoor National Championship in the pole vault and back-to-back Big 12 Outdoor titles in the event.
