KU Soccer Looks to Rebound Against Pacific Sunday

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas soccer will attempt to pick up its first win of the 2013 campaign when it welcomes the Pacific Tigers for the Jayhawks’ home-opener Sunday in Lawrence.

Kansas will celebrate Back to School Day Sunday at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. Elementary school students will be admitted for free and their parents for just $3. The game will also feature a Back to School Kit giveaway. In addition, posters and schedule cards will be available for all fans. Members of the Kansas soccer team will be available for autographs following the match.

Fans unable to attend can tune into Sunday’s match by logging on to Jayhawk Digital Passport and listening to Josh Kurelac’s play-by-play radio call. Subscriptions are available in daily ($2.95), monthly ($6.95) and yearly ($49.95) increments. Live stat updates will also be available for free via the Jayhawks’ live stat page here and, as always, fans can get updates through Kansas’ twitter account, @KUWSoccer.

The Jayhawks are coming off a 1-0 loss to Arkansas in the season’s first match Friday night in Fayetteville. KU outshot the Razorbacks 11-9 but couldn’t overcome the Arkansas goal in the early minutes of the match, which handed the Jayhawks their first loss of the young season.

Kansas will take the pitch against the Tigers for the first time in program history. The Jayhawks are 4-3 against teams in Big West Conference. Pacific also dropped its first regular season match Friday night, falling to the Missouri Tigers 5-1.

KU returns to action on Aug. 30 when it takes on Missouri State in Springfield, Mo. The Jayhawks will face the Bears at 6 p.m.
