Jayhawks Look for Weekend Sweep Sunday Against Purdue

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After earning its first road win of the season Friday night, Kansas soccer will attempt to pick up its first weekend sweep of the 2013 campaign when it welcomes the Purdue Boilermakers to the Jayhawk Soccer Complex Sunday at 1 p.m.

Kansas will celebrate Camper Reunion Day. All those who participated in this summer’s KU Soccer camps will be admitted for free and their parents for just $3. Jayhawk Soccer Players will also be available for autographs following the match.

Fans unable to attend can tune into Sunday’s game by logging on to Jayhawk Digital Passport and listening to Josh Kurelac’s play-by-play radio call. Subscriptions are available in daily ($2.95), monthly ($6.95) and yearly ($49.95) increments. Live stat updates will also be available for free via the Jayhawks’ live stat page here and, as always, fans can get updates through Kansas’ twitter account, @KUWSoccer.

The Jayhawks (2-1-0) are coming off a 1-0 win over Missouri State Friday night in Springfield. KU could not tally a single shot on goal until the 87th minute when Kelsey Leyden put in her first career goal to give KU the lead and its first non-conference road victory since 2011.

Kansas will take the pitch against the Boilermakers for the fourth time in program history. The Jayhawks are 2-1 against the Big Ten conference foe. Like Kansas, Purdue has also worked to a 2-1 record through the first three matches of the year. The Boilermakers defeated Northern Illinois Friday night in DeKalb, Ill., by a score of 4-1.

Next weekend Kansas will take part in the Sun Devil Desert Classic in Tempe, Ariz. The Jayhawks will begin the weekend with a match against the Arizona Wildcats on Sept. 6 at 4:30 p.m. (CT). Kansas will then take on tournament host Arizona State on Sunday, Aug. 8 at 1:30 p.m. (CT).
