Kansas Looking to Return to Winning Form Sunday Against San Francisco

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks will look to pick up its fourth win of the 2013 campaign when it welcomes the San Francisco Dons to Lawrence Sunday for a noon kickoff. The game will be the second of the day as part of the Kansas Invitational. San Diego will take on Nebraska in the day’s first game scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

On Sunday Kansas will celebrate Youth Soccer Day, as any child wearing a youth soccer jersey will be admitted for just $3. Fans will also be able to buy one ticket and get one free when they purchase at regular price. Players will be available following the match for autographs following the match.

Fans unable to attend can tune into Sunday’s game by logging on to Jayhawk Digital Passport and listening to Josh Kurelac’s play-by-play radio call. The Jayhawks (3-3-1) are coming off a 2-0 loss to San Diego Friday evening in Lawrence. KU outshot the Toreros 17-6 over the final 70 minutes of play but USD’s Taylor Housley tallied two goals which proved to be the difference as the Jayhawks were held scoreless for the second-consecutive match.
 
Kansas will take the pitch against the Dons for the first time in the programs’ history Sunday. The Jayhawks are 8-6-0 against West Coast conference foes. Like Kansas, San Francisco fell in its first game of the Kansas Invitational, dropping a 3-0 decision to Nebraska Friday and falling to 4-2-0 on the year.
 
Next weekend Kansas will again hit the road for a Friday match with South Dakota State in Brookings, S.D. The Jayhawks and Jackrabbits will kickoff at 6 p.m. KU will then return to Lawrence for its final non-conference home contest of the season when it takes on the Illinois State Redbirds at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22.
