THE BASELINE
The 23rd ranked Jayhawks enter this weekend’s matches against No. 21 Wichita State and No. 46 New Mexico 6-0 after defeating North Texas and Colorado nearly three weeks ago. KU and Wichita State will face off at the Jayhawk Tennis Center in Lawrence, Kansas, at 2 p.m., Friday afternoon. The Jayhawks will then take on the New Mexico Lobos at 12 p.m., Sunday. Friday’s match will serve as KU’s ‘Jayhawks For a Cure’ match.

THE SERIES: KANSAS vs. WICHITA STATE
Kansas (6-0, 0-0 Big 12) leads the all-time series with Wichita State (10-3, 0-0 MVC), 15-6. The last match-up between the two schools was in 2015 when the Shockers topped the Jayhawks, 6-1, in Wichita.

SCOUTING THE SHOCKERS
Earlier this month WSU captured the Missouri Valley Conference’s Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honor for the fourth time in five weeks. Aleksandra Trifunovic became the third different Shocker to bring home the award. Trifunovic went 4-0 in singles (without dropping a set) and 3-1 in doubles, as Wichita State swept all four of its duals, including big road wins over previously unbeaten Missouri and Nebraska. The Shockers dropped a 4-3 decision at No. 42 Arkansas in their most recent outing.

THE SERIES: KANSAS vs. NEW MEXICO
Kansas (6-0, 0-0 Big 12) leads the all-time series with New Mexico (5-2, 0-0 MWC), 6-5. The last match-up between the two schools was in 2015 when the Lobos topped the Jayhawks, 4-3, in Albuquerque.

SCOUTING THE LOBOS
The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team in 2015 won the Mountain West tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Lobos are led by Andrea Leblanc who went 16-3 in singles play during her Fall season, earning her a No. 6 ranking in the ITA Mountain Region in singles play. Leblanc and teammate Rachana Bhat also went 4-0 in the Fall to earn a No. 5 ranking in doubles.

UP NEXT
KU will continue its home stand as it hosts SMU (Mar. 4), Denver (Mar. 6) and Baylor (Mar. 9). The team’s next road match will take place on Mar. 12 against Tulane in Houston.
