KU Student-Athletes Participate in Graduation Ceremonies

LAWRENCE, Kan. – It is a rich tradition at the University of Kansas for graduates to walk through the Campanile near the top of Mount Oread and “down the hill” to Memorial Stadium for graduation. For some 85 KU student-athletes, a sunny and calm Sunday morning served as a great backdrop for such a customary ceremony.

Not all the KU graduating student-athletes had the opportunity to participate in the 2014 graduation festivities. On Sunday, the KU baseball team ended its regular season at Michigan, while the KU track and field teams competed at the Big 12 Championships in Lubbock, Texas, and the Jayhawk women’s golf team played a practice round at the NCAA Championship in Tulsa. Both the Kansas softball and women’s rowing teams raced back from NCAA and Conference USA competition, respectively, late Saturday evening in order to make their memorable walk.
