Hoppel joins Pan Am Games roster

LAWRENCE, Kan. – As was announced earlier this week by the USATF, the organization has selected its athletes who will compete in the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru, later this summer. Among those 96 athletes selected for the prestigious team is the University of Kansas’ own Bryce Hoppel, who just completed his junior campaign at KU and has announced his intentions to return to Lawrence for his final season of collegiate eligibility in the upcoming year.

Hoppel recently wrapped up an extremely successful junior season while donning the Crimson and Blue for Kansas. The Midland, Texas, native went a combined 19-0 during the 2018-19 indoor and outdoor seasons in the 800-meter run. Among those perfect races were two National Championships for the then-junior, both indoors in March and again outdoors earlier this month in Austin, Texas.

Lima, Peru, is the host site for 2019 Pan American Games, which are scheduled to be competed August 6-10. In all, the Games will feature 39 sports and 61 disciplines. Approximately 6,680 athletes are expected to compete from 41 different delegations around the world.
