Kansas takes 5-1 win over Hornets

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas softball was able to remain undefeated in their fall exhibition schedule after knocking off Emporia State 5-1 Saturday morning inside Arrocha Ballpark.

The Jayhawks pitching staff kept the Hornets in check all game long. The team combined for 13 strikeouts in the 10-inning contest. Sophomore Lexy Mills led the effort finishing with a team-best four strikeouts in just two innings of action.

Offensively, the Jayhawks put together a 10 hit performance. Senior Miranda Rodriguez had the largest impact as she drove in a team-high two runs and finished the day 2-3 from the plate.

Kansas will square off with Central Missouri in their next exhibition matchup. The game is scheduled for October 3 at 6 p.m. at Arrocha Ballpark.
