bio

Terry Mohajir joined the Kansas Athletics staff May 31, 2011, assuming responsibility for the Williams Educational Fund. He also directs the efforts of the Marketing and Game-Day Experience staffs.

In July, 2011, Mohajir was named Senior Associate Athletics Director – External Relations.

Mohajir came to Kansas from his position as Senior Associate Athletics Director at Florida Atlantic University, where he oversaw development, marketing, ticket sales, corporate sales and the media relations department. Foremost among his responsibilities was a fundraising campaign for a $70 million on-campus football stadium. He also created and implemented the revenue plan (operations and personnel) for the new stadium, which includes corporate sales, premium seats, ticket sales and marketing. He also served on the design team for the stadium. His efforts helped FAU[apos]s football program reach the 2007 New Orleans Bowl in just its fourth year as a FBS (formerly I-A) program, an NCAA record for the fastest start-up program to go to a bowl game.

Mohajir joined the FAU staff in December 2004 as Associate Athletics Director for Development, and was heavily involved in creating a comprehensive fundraising program that focuses on major gifts, the annual fund and special events. During his tenure FAU[apos]s athletics department enhanced its major gift program 800 percent, Owl Club giving increased 400 percent, and special-events revenue increased 150 percent.

Mohajir[apos]s connection to KU dates back to the mid-1990[apos]s, when he was an assistant offensive line and game-day special team[apos]s football coach for the Jayhawks (1993-96). He was on the staff that beat UCLA in the 1995 Aloha Bowl and had a final ranking of #9 in the AP poll. He was also a football ticket sales and promotions account executive for Kansas Athletics from 1996-97, and earned a master[apos]s degree in sports management at KU in 1997.

Mohajir left KU in 1997 but he didn[apos]t go far, staying in the Kansas City area as assistant athletics director for external relations at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. There he supervised marketing and promotions, sports information, fundraising, radio and TV contracts, corporate sales, tickets, event operations, sports medicine, strength/conditioning and men[apos]s soccer. Under his leadership, UMKC Athletics saw dramatic increases in endowment, sponsorships, ticket revenue and its donor base. One of his more visible accomplishments at UMKC was the fundraising and construction efforts for a new training room and strength and conditioning center.

Mohajir graduated from Arkansas State University with a major in sports management and a minor in marketing in 1993. He was a starter on ASU[apos]s football team.

Mohajir[apos]s wife, Julie, is an alumna of KU where she was a member of Chi Omega and a member of the Kansas Athletics dance team that won two national championships. They have two daughters, Maria and Molly and son, Marco.
