Formby Collects Co-Big 12 Pitcher of the Week Honors
IRVING, Texas – Kansas sophomore Andie Formby collected her second Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honor of the season after the league announced Formby and Baylor’s Heather Stearns were selected as Co-Big 12 Pitchers of the Week for March 17.
Formby’s nearly 29 scoreless-inning streak may have ended Saturday, but the right-hander started a new streak Sunday as she no-hit Saint Louis in a 9-0, six-inning, win to close the Rock Chalk Challenge. It was her fifth complete-game shutout of the season, and third in her last five outings. She became the 26th Jayhawk to register a no-hitter for Kansas, capping a week that saw her post a 2-1 record and 1.87 ERA in 15.0 innings. She struck out 12 and walked just four batters while limiting opposing hitters to .132.
Since March 6, Formby has allowed four earned runs in 34 and two-thirds innings for a 0.81 ERA. Against Creighton, Formby struck out seven batters, marking the third time this season that she has struck out seven or more batters in a single game.
