2013 KU Basketball Roundball About to Begin
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Space is available for upcoming appearances by Kansas basketball coaches Bill Self and Bonnie Henrickson at the 2013 KU Roundball events sponsored by Kansas Athletics and the Williams Education Fund.
KU Roundball, reaching across the state of Kansas and into the Kansas City metro, allows Jayhawk fans to hear Self and Henrickson share their insights on their respective teams for the 2013-14 basketball season. KU Roundball events for both coaches begin Monday, Nov. 4 in Kansas City, Mo., with stops in Wichita on Nov. 6 and Topeka on Nov. 7. Additionally, Self will have a KU Roundball in Lawrence on Nov. 14 while Henrickson will hold one on Dec. 9, also in Lawrence.
Self has guided Kansas men’s basketball to an unprecedented nine-straight Big 12 Conference regular-season titles. His 300 victories in 10 seasons at KU are more wins than any other school in the past decade. A five-time conference coach of the year and three-time national coach of the year, Self is coming off a 31-6 season in which the Jayhawks tied for the league regular-season title, won the Big 12 postseason championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. Preseason co-Big 12 favorites, the Jayhawks enter 2013-14 ranked sixth in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll.
Henrickson has directed the KU’s women’s basketball team to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in each of the last two seasons. In nine seasons under Henrickson, the Jayhawks have advanced to the postseason for the last six years and seven times in the last eight seasons. KU’s women’s team has won 20 or more games in each of the last three years, including a 20-14 record in 2012-13.
