Kansas volleyball used a dominant performance and never trailed in defeating Missouri State 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-18) in the second round of the Jayhawk Classic at the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena Friday evening.
Kansas volleyball hosts the Jayhawk Classic, Sept. 16-18, at the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena. KU (5-3) will play Kansas City (8-1) on Sept. 16, at 6:30 p.m. CT, Missouri State (7-2) on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. and Albany (3-7) Sept. 18, at 11 a.m.
Kansas outside hitter/libero Caroline Bien was instrumental in KU’s winning the Kansas Invitational last weekend and has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week, the Big 12 Conference announced Tuesday.

Kansas volleyball freshman Caroline Bien recorded a season-high 13 kills, while super-senior Jenny Mosser added 10 kills and sophomore Caroline Crawford nine as KU defeated Wichita State, 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-16) in the second round of the Kansas Invitational Saturday night at the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.
Kansas defeated Delaware (25-15, 22-25, 15-25) in the first match of the Kansas Invitational on Thursday with the lead of super-senior Jenny Mosser and freshman Caroline Bien, who both had 11 kills in the home opener for the Jayhawks at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.
Kansas dropped a three-set decision to No. 15 Western Kentucky (11-25, 22-25, 17-25) in the third and final round of the LUV Invitational on Saturday. The Jayhawks went 2-1 in the event with wins against host Lipscomb and previously unbeaten Wake Forest before Saturday’s finale.
