Baseball Moves Home Series to Texas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – In lieu of the projected forecast for this weekend’s home-opening baseball series, the Kansas baseball team has elected to move its games to QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, home of the Grand Prairie Airhogs.

Originally dubbed the Salty Iguana Classic, the Jayhawks were originally scheduled to open their home slate Friday, Feb. 28 against North Dakota, before playing a two-game set against Houston Baptist Saturday and Sunday. However, with the temperatures in the mid-20s and the chance of snow, KU will travel to Texas and play four games against the Huskies. Kansas will play all four games as the designated home team.

The two squads will open the weekend of play Friday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m., play a doubleheader Saturday, March 1 at 12 p.m., and close out the series Sunday, March 2 at 12 p.m.

Season-ticket holders and fans that have purchased single-game tickets for the weekend can bring those tickets to another baseball home game later in the season and trade it out for a general admission ticket for a future date.

With the change in venue, the games will no longer be carried live on ESPN3, but can still be heard online via Jayhawk Digital Passport.
